What I collect on emersonbraun.dev, why, who handles it, and how you can control it. Short version: your email for the newsletter, basic analytics, no ads, no selling data.

Last updated: October 1, 2026

Who is responsible

This site, emersonbraun.dev, and “The AI Builder's Newsletter” are run by Emerson F. Braun, an individual, who is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: emersonfbraun@gmail.com.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the newsletter, I collect your email address and your preferences (topics and reader type you choose through the preferences link), plus the source of the signup (for example the website or the free book).

When you submit the signup form on this site, the following technical details may also be sent along with it to help me understand where readers come from: IP address, a country derived from that IP address (via the ipapi.co lookup service), time zone, browser language, screen resolution, user agent, referrer, and UTM campaign parameters.

Subscribers are stored in Resend (the email service used to send the newsletter) and mirrored in my own database for analytics and list-management purposes. I use this data only to send you the newsletter and related onboarding emails, and to understand which content is useful.

Emails are sent through Resend, which also reports delivery, open, and click events, as well as bounces and spam complaints. I use these open/click metrics in aggregate to improve the newsletter.

Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link (and the standard List-Unsubscribe header). You can also ask me to delete your data at any time (see “Your rights” below).

Free book download

The free book is available at ebook.emersonbraun.dev and is delivered through Gumroad at no cost. Gumroad (a third party with its own privacy policy) collects the email address you use to get the book. When a download completes, Gumroad notifies my server, and that email address is added to the newsletter list, tagged with the source “gumroad”. The landing page says this before you download: every download joins the weekly newsletter, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

The ebook site can also pass an email address to the same newsletter signup service when a signup form is used there. Data collected this way is handled exactly as described in the Newsletter section.

Payments

The site itself does not process payments and does not collect card details. The book is free; if you choose to leave an optional tip on Gumroad, that payment is handled entirely by Gumroad. I do not receive or store your payment information.

Analytics

The website and the ebook site use PostHog (hosted in the United States) for product analytics. It records page views, page leaves, clicks and other interactions (autocapture), and JavaScript errors, together with technical information such as browser, device, approximate location derived from IP address, and referrer. Visitors are tracked under a pseudonymous identifier; if you subscribe, that identifier may be associated with your signup.

I use this data to understand how the site is used and to fix problems. It is not sold and is not used for advertising.

The site is hosted on Vercel, which, like any web host, processes request logs (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver and secure the service. The APIs behind the newsletter run on separate server infrastructure operated for this project.

Cookies and local storage

This site uses only the following:

  • PostHog analytics cookie / local storage: a pseudonymous visitor identifier and session data, shared across emersonbraun.dev subdomains and agentskit.io so that a visitor counts as the same person across those sites.
  • Theme preference: your light/dark choice is stored in your browser.
  • Presentations access cookie: set only if you sign in to the password-protected presentations area.

There are no advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site keeps working, but analytics will then count you as a new visitor.

Fonts are loaded through Next.js and served from this site rather than requested from Google by your browser.

Google API Services

“Hermes Personal Agent” is a private assistant app that I built and use only for myself. It is not offered to the public and has no users other than its owner.

The app accesses only my own Google account, with my authorization, for personal productivity: Google Calendar, Gmail (read-only) and Google Drive (read-only). Data obtained from Google is not shared with anyone, not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine-learning models.

Hermes Personal Agent's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This section concerns that private app only. Visitors to this website are never asked to connect a Google account, and the website does not access any Google user data.

Data retention

Newsletter subscriber data is kept while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your address is marked as unsubscribed so that I do not email you again; if you ask me to delete your data, I remove it from Resend and from my database. Analytics data is retained in PostHog according to its retention settings for my project. Emails I receive from you are kept as long as needed to answer them.

Who else handles your data

I do not sell personal data. It is processed on my behalf by these providers: Resend (email delivery), PostHog (analytics), Vercel (website hosting), ipapi.co (country lookup at signup), and Gumroad (book delivery, under its own policy). Some of them are located in the United States, so your data may be transferred outside your country.

Your rights (LGPD / GDPR)

Depending on where you live, including under Brazil's LGPD and the EU/UK GDPR, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. My legal bases are your consent (newsletter signup) and my legitimate interest in running and securing the site and understanding how it is used.

To exercise any right, write to emersonfbraun@gmail.com. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in any email. You may lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Brazil, the ANPD).

Children

This site and the newsletter are not directed to children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their data.
